Welcome

A traditional hand cut timber frame event facility, affectionately known as 'The Barn', nestles into the bucolic rolling fields of the 300 acre Bird's Eye Cove Farm. Highland Cattle roam the pastures grazing on the lush grasses of Vancouver Island, while chickens freely wander and laze in the warm Cowichan Valley sun. There is no other place on earth quite like it, where memories are made and peace, tranquility and natural beauty are found.

Fall Culinary Learning Expereinces

Here are the details - we are tickled to be able to release them.  Remember all of our culinary learning events are about the hands on experience.  For this reason seats are limited.  Reserve yours!

'Give me Coffee!' ~ Coffee & Stew
As the weather makes us want to hunker down and stay inside, why not turn the attention on two comfortable companions; coffee and stew.

Take a walk through the world of coffee. We'll begin the morning at Drumroaster's Coffee. The journey begins (while enjoying a beautiful cup of coffee and a tasty Brioche in the newly completed learning area) with the source of the coffee bean straight through to the roasting process and then on to the individual cup that is being enjoyed.

The adventure for the day doesn't stop there, we'll move on to Maple Bay and Bird's Eye Cove Farm where our Chef Ashley will reveal her secrets to the perfect stew, with the star of the show being coffee. We'll learn about choices of ingredients, preparation and while doing so, enjoy a farm fresh lunch.

Our day will wrap up back at Drumroasters Coffee where we enjoy a tasty coffee treat to end the adventure.
$42.00 per person or $75.00 per couple. Price includes a hands on learning experience, coffee, brioche, lunch served with wine. 10:00am – 2pm November 18th 2012 Reserve your spot and secure your tickets by emailing: info@birdseyecovefarm.com or calling 250-748-6379.

Your afternoon will include a walk through time following the evolution of the chocolate industry. You will enjoy selected wine and chocolate pairings. Create and sample a modern take on a traditional Christmas pudding and as the grande finale create 40 of your own fine hand rolled truffles to take along with you.
This culinary event offers participants and beginner Chocolaterie the necessary skill to make the perfect holiday treats.

What to wear to a Masquerade Ball?

The only thing that is mandatory when attending a masquerade ball is the mask!
Well, that's not entirely true - some sort of clothing and footwear are a good idea too.

A costume that goes with the mask is where the fun starts.  Some party attendees like to stay very true to tradition and arrive wearing period clothing - ball gowns for the ladies, tail coats for the men.  If this sounds like something that is not your style here are a few suggestions.

* formal attire: long dress, suit, dress pants, button down and cuffed shirts
* evening wear: what you would wear out to a nice dinner, cocktail party
* creative wear: something sexy, provocative, imaginative, mysterious
* recycled wear: bridesmaid and groomsman attire, re purposed retro styles
* fantasy attire: goth, vampire, futuristic
* colour coded: all black, all white, jewel tones (purple, green, ruby red)

This is a party that calls for you to be creative and have fun.  Remember that it's meant to be mysterious, unleash the inner goddess and the secret agent that you always wanted to be, but never got the chance.

Above all else, this a FUN party.  Great music, outstanding venue, creative bar tenders and bountiful small bites.

Still need tickets? Scroll down to the 'Buy Now' button on the Masquerade poster post.  We'll see you Saturday night!
